Die Grazer Lokalpolitik sorgt weiter für Schlagzeilen. Gegen die FPÖ-Spitzenkandidatin für die Gemeinderatswahl, Susanne Winter, ist auf dem Online-Videoportal YouTube am Dienstag ein "Drohvideo" aufgetaucht. Darin werden die islamfeindlichen Ausritte Winters als "Fehler" bezeichnet und indirekt Anschläge angedroht. Die Islamische Glaubensgemeinschaft in Österreich erstattete Strafanzeige gegen Winter und die FPÖ, die "Globale Islamische Medienfront" (GIMF) rief sogar in E-Mails zur Tötung Winters auf. Im Drohvideo wird außerdem ein Bild der Anschläge vom 11. September 2001 in New York gezeigt und mit folgendem Text unterlegt: "Schau her Susanne wegen deiner Aussage kann so was Ähnliches auch in deinem Land passieren - du bist verantwortlich dafür". Am Ende des Videos heißt es: "Made by Bilal & Jasko". Nach ersten Ermittlungen der Polizei könnten Bestandteile des Videos auf einen möglichen serbischen Hintergrund hindeuten. Am Ende des knapp fünfminütigen Clips ist ein Wappen zu sehen, das immer wieder mit der Region Sandschak in Verbindung gebracht wird, in der hauptsächlich Muslime leben. In der Machart unterscheidet sich das Video allerdings sehr stark von den bisher in Österreich aufgetauchten Drohbotschaften islamistischer Gruppierungen. Nach einer Meldung, das Drohvideo sei auf Weisung der Ermittler von der Internetplattform YouTube entfernt worden, stellte der Sprecher des Innenministeriums, Rudolf Gollia, klar, dass die Entfernung nicht durch die Exekutive veranlasst wurde. Tatsächlich dürften die Urheber der Botschaft den Clip selbst vom Netz genommen haben. Weitere Details zu den Ermittlungen wollte Gollia am Montag nicht nennen. Auch zum vermuteten serbisch-moslemischen Hintergrund wollte sich Gollia nicht äußern: "Wir bestätigen diesbezüglich gar nichts." Die Aufklärungsarbeit gehe aber voran, man wolle versuchen, den Fall "mit allen zur Verfügung stehenden Möglichkeiten" aufzuklären. Die "Beschimpfung des Propheten des Islam in dieser Form ist eine Herabwürdigung und Verspottung. Der Vergleich der Muslime mit einer Tod und Verderben bringenden Naturkatastrophe hat ebenfalls zum berechtigten Ärgernis von Muslimen geführt", heißt es in der Strafanzeige. Die Islamische Glaubensgemeinschaft in Österreich "zeigt daher Frau Winter als Privatperson und die FPÖ als Partei an". Drohvideo stammt nicht von GIMF Weiters kündigte die GIMF für die nächsten Tage eine ausführliche Stellungnahme an, in dem sie die Beweise dafür anführen will, "dass diese Beleidiger des Propheten getötet werden müssen und auch jeder Muslim diese Tötung durchführen darf." Weiters wird darauf hingewiesen, dass "wir die anderen FPÖ-Politiker genauso wie Susanne Winter ansehen, solange diese sich nicht von diesen Aussagen distanzieren." Abschließend wird darauf hingewiesen, dass das "einfache Amateur-Video" gegen Susanne Winter, das am Dienstag in der Internet-Plattform "Youtube" veröffentlicht wurde, nicht von der GIMF stammt. GIMF verfasste Drohvideo gegen Deutschland und Österreich Die GIMF wird von Islamkennern als Anlaufstelle für die radikale Sprache von Jungislamisten gesehen. Es handle sich um eine "Radikalisierung in Echtzeit, die man nachvollziehen kann. Das ist gefährlich und muss uns Sorge bereiten", hatte zuletzt der Berliner Islam- und Terrorexperte Yassin Musharbash erklärt. Zuletzt hatte die GIMF ein Drohvideo gegen Deutschland und Österreich verfasst, in dem der Abzug von Soldaten aus Afghanisten verlangt wurde.

Always the eager one to learn, I cannot deny that this video has a certain potential to annoying me. I'm not of particular naivete but still do believe that

video is a sub-optimal medium for providing in depth technical information
Techie staff should not be getting into marketing the same way I would not feel really 100% comfortable, should know-it-all(-better) Microsoft marketing department decide to indulge in driver development in the near future.

I'll try to explain more in depth what it is precisely, that I find so annoying. This essentially boils down the fact that the whole Vista team seems to be in a state of denial or how else would you describe the official Mantra "most advanced OS, most secure OS", etc. Sorry for shortening the actual quotes but you've most likely heard them ad nauseam and probably half the way back :-)

Don't get me wrong though. I'd like to state very clearly that I'm running Vista on my machines after being in the Vista beta programme for more than a year. I'm still in the Server 2008 beta and without disclosing anything I'd like to say that I really like Vista as well as Server 2008. But that should not make blind towards complaints. I'll name a few that surface on the internet regularily but hardly ever (in case of driver behaviour or architecture) get proper attention. Just to name a couple

What's really that advanced with an IO subsystem which can be abused that easily to get the machine to a grinding halt. Don't believe it? Just subscribe to 200 RSS feeds using the MS feed store, wait for the msfeedsync service to start updating your feeds, lean back and enjoy. There will not be very much more you're going to be be able to do for the next 10-15 minutes). msfeedsync is only one example for IO intensive software that hogs down the whole machine, thereby introducing this Windows 98 feeling of helplessness that we all thought, would be gone for good. This was run and measured on my dual core Pentium E4300 machine with 2GB RAM.

But it still shares one attribute with all other non-trivial software in the known universe: it's not perfect and that's good news in fact because face it guys, would it be perfect, you'd loose your jobs. And anyway, please try to re-introduce the variable 'usability' into your equations for "technical advancedness" calculation - even fellow developers might mainly be interested in what actually reaches them and not so much in the big theore

Would it not bve for the few courageous secular Fatah members who still keep speaking up they'd not be worth very much more than a thermonuclear bomb. What means inhuman - THEY don't get tired to tell us how much they prefer death to live. Cultural respect mandates to take them seriously and put to good use the advanced technical resources of Western civilization to make that process slightly more efficient.

Just try to imagine the reactions of these halfbrains, should something like that, ridiculing them or simply correctly diagnosing their pre-intellectual disorders be part of a European TV show. We'd all be deaf from their inisistent whining. Why on earth do we still put up with them?

A man chopped off his penis with a knife in front of horrified diners at a busy restaurant.

Police were called to Zizzi, in The Strand, London, at 9pm on Sunday after reports of a man in possession of a knife.

Sales rep Stuart McMahon, who was eating at the restaurant with his girlfriend, told the SUN:

"This guy came running in then charged into the kitchen, got a massive knife and started waving it about.

"Everyone was screaming and running out as he jumped on a table, dropped his trousers and popped his penis out.

"Then he cut it off. I couldn't believe it."

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said a man aged between 30-40 was the only person injured and that his injuries were self-inflicted.

She said he was taken to a south London hospital where his condition was today described as stable.

Ever tried to use an alternative browser, say Opera 9.x, as your system default? If so, you might agree that one of the most annoying things you'll encounter with nauseating frequency is what I call the 'smart ass website' phenomenon. This type of mostly absolutely moronic sites keeps telling you that your browser would be incompatible to render it, thank you very much, and whether you'd like to download IE or Firefox instead.

Dear site creators: this is bullshit

Have you ever tried this out or are you simply relying on conventinal wisdom? Personally I know of no single page, which Firefox 2.x (software, which I quite extensively use and very much like myself) could render and Oprea could not. So why the f... do plenty of sites, starting with Google Desktop and not ending with the Web.de Web.de CLUB page creator keep telling this nonsense? Anybody has an explanation? Besides ignorance, that is...

Dear web site 'programmers', please let us choose our tools, just let your sites load in whichever browser we see fit and, let me very confidentially add this, should the site abc really not load (correctly) in browser xyz, so we are most likely gonna notice and just reload in another one. Life can be that easy if u start using the organ between your ears...
